In fact the two ICs lo ok just like plastic transistors, but inside each is a multitude of transistors making it possible for this little radio to perform about as well as any of those six transistor wonders from the olden days (the 60's)...And it sounds great, too. Designed to give about 200 hours from a single 9 volt battery (not included), you can take this radio just about anywhere. The fidelity through an inexpensive pair of stereo headphones is quite impressive. There are still  a few great music stations on the a AM band, lots of crazy talk shows and an abundance of sporting events. And for those youngsters you are helping there is  Radio Disney--the perkiest radio station on the face of the earth. If you live in the city this radio will recei ve most of the local stations without an external antenna. If you live in the country or far away from any transmitters you can attach an external antenna. You will be amazed at what you'll hear--especially after sundown--with a simple antenna of 20 feet or more in length. Like all ElmerRadios your Twin IC radio comes with a nice blue plastic enclosure.
